Ready, Set, Fall!

I don't know about you, but I am so ready for Fall. Never mind that we don't really have seasons here in South Florida -- well, unless you count our year-round balmy weather as an eternal summer. But October, which just happens to be my birthday month, usually ushers in cooler temps and shorter days. Which means I can bring my beloved cardigans and jackets (and boots!) out of retirement. Plus I just happen to like the clothing styles more in autumn. They have a more structured, elegant look, in my opinion.

Here are some of the goodies I'm wishing on for Fall...

Falling for Fall

My absolute favorite season is Fall, not just because my birthday is in October, but because I love how the weather finally becomes more bearable, the hot and humid long days suddenly giving way to crisp and cool early evenings. And of course, I love Fall for the fashion -- the coats, the boots, the scarves. I love layering, and Fall is the perfect season to show off some pretty layers.

As a teacher, I feel like I've sort of fallen into a fashion rut. I have even taken to wearing the requisite polo shirts with my school insignia, just like the kids. As flattering as it is to be confused by the security guards for being one of the students, I think this year I want to kick my wardrobe up a notch. I might even wear something that shows my legs (gasp!), something I've never, ever done as a high school teacher. (I'm like a much less fashionable version of Katharine Hepburn, always in pants, never in dresses or skirts.)

I wanted to clean out my closet this week of items I no longer wear (and maybe some of those polos), but I pulled a back muscle and can only stare at my messy closet in frustration. To distract myself while I wait for my back to heal, I've been browsing some online stores and getting ideas of what I'd like to add to my wardrobe this Fall. Here are some of my inspirations:

I want to see these films!

These are the films I'm looking forward to seeing this fall/winter...

Avatar
James Cameron is a pretty reliable guy when it comes to movies. After all, he's got a impressive resume: Aliens, True Lies, Titanic... just to name a few. This one looks like it will be a great movie as well, even if it is a little different than what I'm used to seeing from him.

 Fantastic Mr. Fox
I love-love-love everything about this film so far. The impressive cast. The stop-motion animation. The music. And of course, the fact that it's based on one of Roald Dahl's books. I can't wait!

New Moon
Yeah, like you're really surprised I included this movie. ;)

Sherlock Holmes
I was cautiously optimistic when I first learned this movie was being made. I love Robert Downey Jr., not so much Jude Law and Rachel McAdams. The first half of this trailer is a little too action-y for my taste, but the second half more than makes up for it. I hope this doesn't suck!

What films are you looking forward to seeing this fall/winter?
