"Animals are nothing but the portrayal of our virtues and vices..."

"From the oyster to the eagle, from the swine to the tiger, all animals are to be found in men and each of them exists in some man, sometimes several at the time. Animals are nothing but the portrayal of our virtues and vices made manifest to our eyes, the visible reflections of our souls."—Victor Hugo

I believe this -- animals can portray our true nature. And with this realization comes the understanding that we are animals, lofty-thinking though we might be. We may walk upright, but that doesn't make us that different. Not necessarily.

What brought on this blog post? Well, I was inspired by this post to ask you this question:

What animal best reflects you? I mean the real you -- the "ugly" you that you don't let anyone see. The "pretty" you that you bring out on special occasions. All of your vices and virtues, your hates and your desires. Let me know in the comments!

Wow, this is a tall order! I'm tempted to pick Bull because I'm a Taurus and I TOTALLY identify with that side of me, but do I want to be bovine? Nope!

Then there's Fox, right? But....hmmm.....I mean am I sly and sneaky? Pushy, even?

But, ok, I googled that shit. And did you know foxes are known for good things? Like "an ingenious
mind, a readiness to care for and help others, quickness, and circumspection"? (That's from here, btw: http://www.nanzan-u.ac.jp/SHUBUNKEN/publications/afs/pdf/a1573.pdf)

So am I sly? Yeah... but I'm smart and I care for others and let's face it, I'm FOXY BABY!!!

So I pick fox!
